Post subject: Chess Training Software/Program - Flexible Position Set up
PostPosted: Tue Nov 30, 2010 8:46 am
I am looking for a chess software that can play even when the position is illegal i.e. king is not on the board. Software such as ChessMaster, Fritz, Shredder, Rybka, allow for setting up of positions but without the King, it will not accept the position. Preferably system will allow "illegal move" but instead of not allowing the move to be made, it will "warn" the player that an illegal move has been made - and require the player to replace back the piece and make a legal move in order to continue. Although a diagram software can set up such a position, it does not have the "intelligence" or "engine" to play the game.

In other words, I am looking for a basic strip down version that is purely for teaching, training and educating young kids/beginners but is still able to flag for "check", "illegal move" and can respond by making reasonably but randomly good move.

Is such a software (freeware??) available in the market?
