Post subject: Chessbase 12 fonts problem
PostPosted: Mon Nov 10, 2014 11:26 pm
Hi, I hope I am posting at the right place.
Wanted to ask for any solution to a Chessbase 12 font problem I encountered for the first time.
- Chessbase 12 64 bit
- Windows 8.1
Problem 1: Symbol Pallete does not show all correct symbols, some are not what they should look like.
Problem 2: When exporting annotated games to rtf, after opening with ie WordPad, most figurine symbols either don't show up or are not what they should look like.
I tried reinstalling the program, reinstalling fonts, manually copying the to the Windows/Fonts folder, nothing changed.
The setup I have is Figurine Aries CB, I tried some other fonts, too, but to no avail.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I guess you checked for CB12 updates. Maybe it's a Windows issue, not a CB issue. You could try to reset all fonts settings. I'm not familiar with Win8.1 but I can remember running shell:fonts from the windows run dialog. There must be some setting over there. Font problems can be hell. Good luck.

Thanks.
After many days of experimenting, I concluded it is probably not a CB issue. The settings you mention unfortunately offer only a single change (hide/show fonts based on language input), nothing which helped there. Upgrading to new Windows has always been both fun and a nightmare. While panicking, I also tried overwriting all Win 8.1 fonts with all fonts from previous Win 7, no visible change either (even if some of the same fonts seemed to be ie of different size).
