Wouldn't it be awsome to have a section of the forums were members could play each other (like yahoo chess, but on forum)

To be fair - I don't think we need a playing area. There's millions of places to play on the net - and you can alway invite someone from here to join you for a game!

I agree with this.

However, I don't think it would be too bad if two members wanted to play a correspondence game via a thread on this board in, say, the post your games forum.

I discovered GameKnot because I was invited to a game there through these forums. I still play there off and on (although I much prefer several other similar sites).

Focus on keeping The Chess Exchange the best moderated, consistently informative forum.

What about the Chess Exchange forum versus a computer AI game? You know, CE forum members can take on a chess AI by discussing each move and then voting upon what move to make next? I've seen this done on other forums and it can be fun.

I think the forums are fine the way they are, like said before. There is plenty of other places to play all forms of chess. I say keep the forums the forums!

I suggest www.redhotpawn.com for good online correspondence type chess!

If I could figure out how to do it, it would be fun to take on a AI or a living GM. I can get the second, can anyone think of how to do teh CE part?

Sitting here in Mexico, away from wife and kids(had a few beers, thank you very much). I think you owe us a classy picture of yourself. Many a times I have been wondering what you look like.

Now with my brave, not so sober self I request you show us what you look like

I will give your question a serious thought in the morning.

Have a nice week-end folks.

Good luck with that. Caissa's been a very close friend and confidant of mine for many years and I still have no idea what she looks like -- I could pass right by her on the street a dozen times a day and never know it.
