 Post subject: Double Fianchetto Opening
PostPosted: Tue Sep 28, 2010 11:07 pm
Just started playing chess.

Having difficulty finding info on a particular opening that my friend uses a lot. Would like to know what its strengths and weaknesses are if possible.

His opening 4 moves are (usually in no particular order) B2-B3, C1-B2, G2-G3, F1-G2.

I usually bring both my King pawn and Queen pawn out 2 squares and back them up with my Knights. I find it really tough to play against. I'm thinking it's a weak opening but he's probably a better player than me so he can get away with it.

Any suggestions?

It's some kind of double-fianchetto (1.b3 -- 2.Bb2 is the Larsen), but it sounds like you're doing things right. Advance both center pawns two squares, defend them -- that's pretty much standard procedure.

I don't know --maybe wait for him to castle, then castle on the opposite wing, drive a pawnstorm straight into his King's position and "crush him like bug"? (I typed that with a Russian accent, BTW).

Thanks for that.

I'll try what you say next time he uses it.
