 Post subject: Chess problem database?
PostPosted: Sat Mar 17, 2012 11:41 am
As a new user of Fritz (13), I have a question related to how I want to study and improve using Fritz.

I want to create a database (actually several databases, by theme) of chess puzzles/problems. I need to create the position, but with some text (e.g. 'white to mate in 3', or 'black's last move was xxx', or 'what is the minimum number of moves to checkmate'), and I want use that position against a chess engine playing the opposite color. I've searched for information on doing this in my Fritz, and also looked at Arena - neither apparently allows what I want to do, or at least doesn't document it clearly. I've also searched various chess forums, with no result. Can I do this in Fritz? If not, is there a UCI interface (e.g. Arena) that allows me to do that easily? I know in Fritz I can save a position as a graphics file, but that doesn't allow for the entry of text.

Can someone help me do this? Thanks very much.
