Interesting ideas and discussions. I think the John Nunn article you linked to is very sensible. There is probably no such thing as a perfect system for WCC cycles, and I have heard reasonable arguments for abolishing the title of "World Champion" altogether, and just having rankings as in...

Hi ikestr, welcome to the forum :) You are quite correct. When one of your pawns reaches the 8th rank you can promote it to any piece you like (except a King). So if you want to make it a queen, it doesn't matter if you still have your original queen on the board. So, in theory you could have up to ...
